Place of Public Entertainment (PoPE) Safety Officers

Militem’s team includes PoPE Safety Officers, trained and certified under the 22591VIC Course in Place of Public Entertainment Safety Officer, delivered by Fire Rescue Victoria (FES) and compliant with Victorian Building Regulations Part 14. This training ensures our officers can:

• Risk assess venues before events
• Oversee evacuation procedures
• Control hazards like naked flame, fireworks, or temporary structures
• Ensure safe access, exits, and utility installations

 These officers meet the technical competency required to manage event safety effectively and compliantly.

Safety Officers

Militem Safety Officers monitor fire, crowd, and infrastructure hazards across construction sites, events, and facilities. They conduct audits, manage safety compliance, and respond to emerging safety concerns in real time.

Safety Officers are not generic contractors—they’re trained emergency professionals skilled in proactive safety leadership.

Emergency Wardens

Trained in accordance with AS 3745, emergency wardens are your on-the-ground leaders during evacuations. Militem provides warden teams that:

• Coordinate quick, safe evacuations
• Execute emergency plans
• Liaise with responders smoothly

Hot Work Fire Watch

Hot work operations require constant vigilance. Our Hot Work Fire Watch officers:

• Monitor areas with ignition hazards
• Intervene immediately if sparks or fire risks arise
• Safeguard compliance and avoid costly incidents

Because they come from emergency services backgrounds, they’re significantly more effective than basic compliance watch.

Confined Space Standby Officers

Our Confined Standby are positioned outside your confined space, ensuring compliance with AS 2865: Confined Spaces.

Capabilities:

• Monitoring entry permits and personnel.
• Maintaining communication with workers inside.
• Tracking environmental monitoring results.
• Initiating emergency procedures if hazards arise.

Critical Note: Our Standbys do not enter confined spaces during an incident. Their role is oversight, communication, and escalation. If you require Standby CS Rescue Teams, please read below.

Confined Space Rescue Teams

Separate from standby personnel, Confined Space Rescue Teams are trained and equipped to respond if an incident occurs inside the space.

Capabilities:

• Rope and vertical rescue.
• Use of breathing apparatus (SCBA/BA).
• Patient stabilisation and extraction.
• Technical recovery procedures.

Compliance Assurance: Rescue personnel are independent of standby officers. This separation is required by AS 2865 and ensures safe, compliant operations.

We provide both standby and rescue functions, keeping them distinct and compliant. This dual provision gives clients confidence that Militem understands the legal and practical requirements of confined space operations.
